Grandma's Funeral
What a great Family I have...
Everyone took part at Grandma's funeral. Doug, Courtney, and Missy talked and Maggie sang.
They all did a great job and we took some family and cousins photos. It was a very sad time but we were able to reconnect with some old friends and cousins and it is nice to be able to connect.
Thanks to everyone who showed us support and such a hard time. But we are glad to have Grandpa living with us!

Crystal Earlene Andrews Glendenning
Dear Crystal,
Thank you for raising the perfect Husband, best friend and dad a person could ask for. YOu certainly did something right there! Thanks for getting me hooked to Day of our Lives while living in Kansas.Thank you for always wanting to talk.(About anything and everything.) Thank you for making me feel so welcome in your family. Thank you for showing me that you can love unconditionally. Thanks for always supporting me and my family in everything that we did. Thank you for being kind to my girlfriends and when they would call you would always chat up a storm with them. Thank you for always making my kids the best French toast they had ever eaten. Thank you for being the best mother-in-law that I could ask for. Thanks for always being so willing to babysit my kids no matter what time of day. Thanks for giving Doug good genes so that we could have beautiful children. Thanks for saying weird words that we could get a big chuckle out every time you said it.
I love you and will miss all the good times we had teasing you, hanging with you and just being able to always know that you loved me too. Remember that I Love your Son more than anything in the World!
Families can be together forever so I'm banking on you Big Time!
Love ya...

Domestic goddess! (NOT)
This last week I went to Wichita because my mother-in-law had fallen sick...Well little did I know that I was going to become a cleaner! I can't believe that Their house could be such a pig sty! For several days I was cleaning and throwing sh*t away...Hopefully I won't be in trouble when she gets better! I hope that I never have to do that again...But I did learn that it pays to clean as you go!
I LOVE HAWAII!

Day After Labor Day Lake Powell
Wow what a time to head to the lake with no one there. We had 3 days of beautiful weather, good company, good food, and plenty of wakeboarding and waterskiing. It's a must every year! Courtney and Darin had a week of work and Rod and Michelle came and we hiked Hole in the Rock saw a crow eat our chips and had a good time chatting and hanging with our Kids.
Jack Johnson Concert
We enjoyed a great weekend with David and Michelle's family in Park City and then on to the Jack Johnson Concert. After a hot afternoon and waiting around we got our spots 3 rows back from the front of the stage. In the mean time other people decided that they could just show up and not wait in the HOT sun and get a good spot. We had several fights trying to hold our ground. Doug had girls grinding on him so he would move but we stood our ground and got a good spot. David almost beat the crap out of a few girls and Darin had to tell a chick to quit smoking pot but other than that we enjoyed our favorite Jack Johnson songs and sang along and felt like we were in Hawaii.

New York
Doug, Mags and I went to New York for the very last week of Summer! Maggie starts school on August 12! YUCK!!
So we stayed at the Trump International and it was the week of Famous People. Our first encounter was Luke Wilson. Oh Course Mags and I were still catching zzz's but Doug saw him. Then we were leaving the Hotel and we noticed that there were some BIG shoes sitting in the Lobby. We turned around and there was Shaq! We were to shy to ask for a picture so sorry SHAQ fans. Then we went to Little Mermaid and paparazzi were everywhere. Katie Holmes and Suri were there. Little Mermaid was so good, Disney sure knows how to put on a show! We took a train ride to Wilmington DE for a look at a new Firebirds that had just opened. It's nice to be able to put a star on my map for DE and Penn. I never been there before so that was fun and eating at Firebirds is always good. We stuffed ourselves and then enjoyed the Train home. We also ran in Central Park and saw commercials and movies. WE enjoyed the Met this time visiting the Superhero, fashion...That was fun. But then we went and saw Chorus Line with Mario Lopez!!! need I say more? He is so cute! It was so good. But on Friday when we were leaving the Jonas Brothers were staying at our Hotel. The old bag that I am I didn't really know who they are but Maggie wanted to stick around to see them, So we didn't get to Magnolias for some cupcakes...And we never got to see them either. We had a great time! We enjoyed a Bread basket at every restaurant and now we are paying the Price!

The "NEW PINK LADIES"
The Groupie does it again...This gives a new meaning to the Pink Ladies. What a great feeling it is to help someone else. We finally found our "CAUSE". Chelsi's run gives us a new meaning and what a fun time we all had. It's so nice to know that you can help someone and still have fun. Nancy had a dream to have a race in Chelsi's name. We thought that we would have about 200 people or so support our cause. We were overwhelmed when we had 560 people preregister and and over 800 people show up. We felt like we were really successful. The money will go towards a Scholarship in Chelsi's name to local High school track athletes.

Hong Kong News
This is Matt's Letter this week. I was so proud when I got the picture of his poster. He did learn something from his Mom. I remember all the late nights doing school projects. He did listen and learn after all!
Okay well this week didn't go as bad as I thought it was going to go, but holy cow was I humbled on Friday. I got this number of some lady from Beijing, a potential investigator. People from Beijing have really good mandarin and they have a really thick accent so it is really hard to understand. I call this lady up and schedule her we meet with her on Friday and it was probably the roughest lesson I've taught. I just completely couldn't understand a word she said. I felt so worthless. Elder Whiting is a really good missionary, hard working, really fun, but the language is not clicking. He is only a move younger than me but I daresay my chinese coming out of the MTC is better than his is now, so basically its all me in lessons. So this was our first lesson together just me and him. All other lessons when I don't understand things I could just look over at my companion and he would understand or between the both of us we could get pretty close to figuring it out. Well we are trying to teach this lady and I just have no idea what is going on so I go to look at my companion like I usually do and that has no use anymore. It's like this, if I don't understand what's going on nobody does. I've never been more humbled. I got home and just got down on my knees and prayed so hard for Heavenly Father to help me, things seem to be getting better.
I learned so much Saturday though. Saturday was statutories, statutory holidays are when the Government declares it a Holiday and all of these Phillipino workers get the day off. So one of the zones in our mission is called the international zone. If you serve international you speak english and work with all the international people but is what it is is phillipina work. You just teach and baptize philipinas. Its in the international zone where they have church everyday of the week for the phillipinas who only get one day a week off. When it is statutories there is just phillipinas everywhere. So saturday the international elder called us up and asked us to come and help them with statutories, because there are so many people out when its statutories we can go help the international elders for 4 hours. Lets just say English work and Chinese work is totally different. So there is this place called the world wide center and its just full of philipinas so everyday you just go there. So we get there at 12 and church starts at one. So we head down to World Wide and to pull people back to church, pull backs are definitely not the easiest thing either the church is like 3 subway stops away. So we head down there and we just start contacting people and itis just a steady flow of people. Well we end up pulling back the first philipina I contact. So we take her back to the church drop her off with these philipina members and go back to the world wide. It is amazing how good the members are in international. The branches are a mess because you have about 150-200 philipina women in a branch with no priesthood but they love the church its all they have. Well we go back and end up pulling back so more philipinas and you just put them in church then go back out its amazing. Time is up and I got to go this probably makes no sense, but I went in there thinking I was just going to pull back people like it was nobody's business and I did. But it got me thinking why don't I use that much faith in Chinese work? It got me thinking alot about how I do missionary work.
